CWEIC Webinar: Launch of Commonwealth Legal Network

The Commonwealth is an association of 54 Sovereign Member Nations, bound by shared history, culture and similar business practices and procedures – including legal systems based in Common Law.

These shared practices, we call the ‘Commonwealth Advantage’ and they are calculated to make trading between Commonwealth Countries 19% cheaper. However, underpinning good and easy trade is access to quality, well informed legal advice and expertise – covering everything from trade financing, contracting, arbitration, and cross board disputes and everything in-between.

CWEIC plans to convene a Commonwealth Legal Network bringing together legal practitioners, from large to boutique firms, to share best practices, improve knowledge transfer and create a network of affiliated legal firms and practices to call upon when local or specialist expertise is needed. The network will become a resource for CWEIC’s wider membership as it trades and invests across the Commonwealth. Our aspiration is to form a network of legal firms, with representation from all 5 Commonwealth regions across a multitude legal disciplines, that can contribute to policy discussions at the biennial meeting of Commonwealth Law Ministers.

This first webinar will examine the basis for a Commonwealth Legal Network and where it should initially focus. We will discuss how the Commonwealth’s unique advantage can be better utilised and harnessed to bring together a world leading group of legal firms.
