8th ALP Practice Group Global Townhall Series - Women And Youth In Trade: Inclusivity Under The AfCFTA & Regional Trade Agreements
According to a report titled "Country Data Overviewā€¯, about 40% of MSMEs in Nigeria are owned by women. For Africa, according to a United Nations Women report, 45% of women-owned micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises raise the need for quotas for women-owned businesses in public procurement to be established. To establish an inclusive single market and capture this longstanding revenue-generating sector of the African economy, the AU Assembly at the 35th Ordinary Session held in February 2022, solidified its assertion to integrate the informal continental trade sector, which is predominantly led by women and youth, into the wider AfCFTA formal Agreement.
